Year One this term

Year 1 have enjoyed a sunny and fun packed end to the year and have reflected back on their time in Year 1 and are very much excited about becoming a Dragonfly or a Honeybee.

Gardening

Last half term Caterpillars and Grasshoppers wrote how they had been working hard to produce a metre squared garden to enter in to the Budding young gardeners competition at Wisley. In school all the children helped to create the garden and two team went to Wisley on two consecutive days to put the garden together. They all enjoyed a wonderful day and shared their love of gardening with the other entrants, most of whom were considerably older! The general public loved ‘the long greedy caterpillar’ garden and the children were awarded a commendation for their valiant effort.

This half term the children enjoyed a day out at Bay Pond to further their learning on animals and their homes. They took part in different games and were extremely excited to see what they could find pond dipping in the afternoon.

Learning this half term has also centred on homes a long time ago. The children have travelled back in time to experience what life was like at home in the past. They even made their own room during a special design and technology day at school.

Sports day was a fabulous afternoon where yellow team came out victorious. All the children took part and cheered each other on. The atmosphere was incredible and the children demonstrated sportsmanship brilliantly.

The whole school took part in Feeling Good Week and we enjoyed lots of activities around the theme of friendship. We thought about being a good friend to ourselves and a good friend to others. The library was transformed in to a relaxation room and Jake particularly enjoyed the bubble tube!
